School clerk killed by Maoists in WB

The clerk of a school and local CPI-M leader was shot dead this afternoon by suspected Maoists at Nayagram in Maoist-hit West Midnapore district.

Jhargram: The clerk of a school and
local CPI-M leader was shot dead this afternoon by suspected Maoists at Nayagram in Maoist-hit West Midnapore district.
The police said Baidyanath Jana, a clerk of
Chamarbandh High School of Nayagram was killed when four armed
youths shot him from close range beside a jungle as he was
waiting for a bus after the school.

A resident of nearby Uparpathia village, Jana was
staying outside home for the past one year since Maoists took
control of the area.
He would come to the school occasionally, the police
said.

Jana died on the spot, sources said.
