Kolkata: With a number of Congress dissidents filing nominations as Independents against the Trinamool-Congress alliance for the coming West Bengal Assembly polls, AICC leaders today appealed to them to refrain from doing so and cautioned that they would be 'washed out'.

"It is high time for all concerned to desist themselves from any attempt that may cause any adverse effect on the alliance in any manner whatsoever," WBPCC spokesperson Sukhendu Roy and WBPNTUC chief Pradip Bhattacharya said in a joint statement.

Roy and Bhattacharya appealed to the people not to vote for any dissident candidate as it would help the 'enemies of the people.'

Stating West Bengal was on the threshold of a 'new era', they said "Any person or group of persons, who will dare to oppose the waves of change will be washed out once and for all."

They said that while some deserving leaders may feel frustrated at not being given tickets, no disciplined Congressman should go against the decision of the party High Command.
