Six hurt as rival students clash in Murshidabad college campus

Altogether six students were injured in a clash between supporters of students wing of Congress and Trinamool Congress at a college in Murshidabad district on Monday, the police said.

Baharampore: Altogether six students were injured in a clash between supporters of students wing of Congress and Trinamool Congress at a college in Murshidabad district on Monday, the police said.

Supporters of Chhatra Parishad (CP) and Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), students' wings of the Congress and Trinamool Congress, clashed inside the campus of the Krishnanath College here.

Biplab Kundu, General Secretary of the college union where the CP is in power, was among those injured, the police said adding all the injured were hospitalised.

Outsiders entered the college and attacked the union room and then the clash spread to other areas of the campus the police said.

Principal Kalyanakhya Ghosh said he tried to stop the clash but failed and then policemen controlled the situation.
