State-level Security Committee to secure industries in WB

Kolkata: With increasing threat perception, the West Bengal Government on Friday decided to set up a State- Level Security Committee to ensure security of central and state Public Sector Undertakings in the state.

Announcing this here, state's Home Secretary Samar Ghosh said that after the Committee was set up, it would start identifying all critical industrial units in the state.

A similar committee at the district level headed by District Magistrates would identify such units in there and submit its report to the Committee, he said.

Even as these units had its own security, these units required their security to be strengthened following increasing threat perceptions, he said.

A high-level meeting was held earlier in this regard.

State Chief Secretary Ardhendu Sen, Home Secretary Samar Ghosh, DGP Naparajit Mukherjee, Kolkata Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty were among those who attended the meeting.
