Burdwan (WB): Lambasting the Left Front
government for the poor condition of minorities in West
Bengal, Union Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed on Thursday
said the state government had used Muslim youths to "merely
put up posters and loot booths during polls" during the 34
years of being in power.
"The CPI-M had left the Muslims sleeping...Now after the
Sacchar Committee report Buddhadeb Babu (Bhattacharjee) cannot
sleep thinking about their welfare," he said at a programme of
the Rahmania Welfare Trust here.

"Bhattacharjee is promising OBC card to any Muslim he
sees," Ahmed said.

Referring to the situation in Darjeeling, where the
indefinite bandh pressing for a separate Gorkhaland entered
the 11th day today, he said the situation was being kept alive
by the state government.
As a result of the situation in Darjeeling, tourism was
suffering, Ahmed said.

He said tourism in the country was set to grow centering
on the Railways expansion.
