New Delhi: A petition was on Thursday filed in the Supreme Court seeking contempt action against the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her remarks that judgements are delivered for money.

The petition filed by J&K Panthers' Party founder and senior advocate Bhim Singh alleged that Mamata's comments has the inevitable effect of "undermining" the confidence of the public in the Indian judiciary as "it tends to lower the integrity, reputation and authority" of the judicial system.

Singh, in the petition filed through counsel D K Garg, has urged the court to direct the Union Government to produce the entire record relating to the speech and utterances of Mamata said to have been made by her on August 14 a the platinum jubilee celebrations of the State Legislature.

Quoting Article 129 of the Constitution, the petition said the Chief Minister's comments "amounts to scandalising and have lowered the authority of the judiciary as a whole."

He said Mamata being a popular Chief Minister the people tend to take her words seriously.

The petition cited a number of apex court rulings to say that under Article 129 the Supreme Court has the power to punish for contempt of itself and under Article 143(2) it can investigate any such contempt.

We all know what she has said is partially true. But the question is why is she picking on the judiciary only. All Govt Depts. be it the civic authorities, police or any other authority including politicians (her own fraternity) are buyable commodities. Is she charging the judiciary because it went against her? People are taking bribes right under her nose. Even election tickets are sold in her party. Even she is aware.

How can a lady(CM of West Bengal) who worships corruption comments against judiciary! Isn`t it ridiculous? She needs to have a clear characterization of herself before criticizing others! She proved her inefficiency in controlling corruption in the state where every women feels insecure! Again, when she has no answer for her wrongdoings, she blames the person as being a `Maoist`, who questions her inefficiency. She is so overwhelmed to have powers which she can`t decide how to exploit! She totally lost her credibility to the people who had elected her as CM. God save the state from her whims!

There is a lot of wind over West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee’s observation that Court Judgements can be bought in India. Mamata Bannerjee may not be correct in all her policies or her impulsive actions or at times adolescent behaviour. That does not mean whatever she says is incorrect, as in this case. Is it not a fact way back around late eighties Justice Veeraswamy of The Supreme Court was indicted for corruption and was forced to resign? Is it not a fact a Judge of the CBI Court in Andhra Pradesh was caught red handed accepting a Four Crore bribe for granting bail to Satyam Scam Ramalinga Raju, suspended and is under interrogation? Was it not a Calcutta High Court Judge(or Supreme Court?) who escaped impeachment for misappropriating PF money? Was not a warrant of arrest issued against the then President of India, APJ. Abdul Kalam by a Magistrate for a consideration with out even knowing who the accused was? Litigants always hire a Lawyer who is close to the Judge trying the case. Is it not a fact that the immediate past Supreme Court Judge observed that the majority of the Judiciary is corrupt? ‘Contempt of Court’ for stating the Truth?

It has become a common practice for the participants in LAW fieild( Lawyers, Judges etc.)to feel as if their injured beyond repair when some adverse comments are made on their mal functioning as if they are protected by constitution to be immune for such remarks. Can anybody in the judicial field challenge the fact that the judgments delivered by them are not always fool proof?.Certainly not, irrespective of the level of the court. At the best ,they can say that the judgment delivered by them is on the basis of evidence adduced before them whether oral or documentary(which also in many cases differs from court to court in appeals). In some cases the discretary powers of the judges tend for corruption in them which is not far from truth. While the situation is like this, how can anybody from the judicial wing, charge Mamata Benergy for her recent comments, which is nothing but an image of the facts .Instead of returning fire up on her, they should reform their procedures in each section, for which there is ample of scope

It is high time that some restraints need be put on self-righteous unreasonably uncontrollable Chief Minister of West Bengal Mrs Mamta Banerjee. After her electroral victories she has become more irresponsibl and more illegally authoritarian.

Mamata Banerjee is 100% correct - except the place / platform and her blunt way of talking. Some judges , specially, lower court judges can always be influenced. She is right in that way but opposition / left front got opportunity to put her in trouble.

The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta merely has alleged that there were instances when Court Judgements were delivered for money. Why there is too much of hue and cry.It is nowhere hidden that to some nominal extent there is truth it may be bitter for persons involved in it or showing farce prestige.

One joke: Digvijay Singh’s wife died and went to heaven. As she stood in front of Yamraj, she saw a huge wall of clocks behind. She asked, ``What are all those clocks?`` Yamraj answered, ``Those are LieClocks. Everyone on Earth has a LieClock. Every time you lie, the hands on your clock will move.``...``Oh,`` said Diggy’s wife, ``Who`s clock is that?`` That`s Gautam Buddha`s. The hands have never moved indicating that he never told a lie. ``And whose clock is that?`` That`s Mahathma Gandhi clock. The hands have only moved twice, telling us that Gandhiji only told 2 lies in his entire life.`` She asked, ``Where`s my Diggy`s clock?`` Diggy``s clock is in my office``, replied yamraj, ``I`m using it as a ceiling fan.

This is a classic case of a person who has gone overboard in her remarks over judiciary and also it proves that she has a hand in arresting the farmer who raised some valid questions about farmers. It is indeed that POWER has really GONE TO HER HEAD and no wonder she is exhibiting it in ample measure. God save West Bengal from this haughty lady!!!

What about Gali Janardana Reddi`s bail petition case recently? It seems the judge is still under the custody of C.B.I.Such incidents give scope for questions in respect of the pillar of our democracy under reference How so ever the fire brand deedee might not commented openly in such fashion ,leaving that much scope for such wide range of discussions .
