New Delhi: Congress on Tuesday attacked Left
parties over recovery of arms from near CPI(M) offices in West
Bengal saying the needle of suspicion is moving towards them
as the operation against alleged extremists continues there.
"There is one clear conclusion of the change of
government in West Bengal after 34 years. That is as action
against the alleged extremists is taking place in the state
like in Midnapore to which the Home Minister also referred,
the needle of suspicion is moving towards Left parties," party
spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters.
He said "if there is truth in the reports that the arms
or ammuntion looted from the camp of Eastern Frontiers Rifles
were recovered from CPI-M offices, then it raises serious
questions. And we are of the view that a thorough probe should
be held into this entire sequel of incidents."
Home Minister P Chidambaram had yesterday said the
recent recovery of large cache of illegal arms in different
parts of West Bengal was a matter of "grave concern".
