TC worker arrested for student`s death

A member of Trinamool Congress student wing was arrested in connection with the death of an activist belonging to the Student Federation of India.

Kolkata: A member of Trinamool Congress
student wing was today arrested in connection with the death
of an activist belonging to the Student Federation of India,
affiliated to CPI-M, following a clash that erupted between
supporters of the two bodies at Howrah district.

Sourav Santra of Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad was
arrested for the death of SFI supporter Swapan Kole who was
thrashed while filing nomination for college elections at
Andul college in Howrah district yesterday, sources said.

Santra was arrested after the victim`s family filed an
FIR, they said, adding the accused however, claimed that he
was not involved in the killing and was being framed.

He was produced at the Howrah Chief Judicial Magistrate`s
court and was remanded to police custody for ten days.
