Midnapore: Addressing a rally in East Midnapore, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi hit out both at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"In West Bengal there has been no development, growth and no education. In this state there is only the rule of TMC syndicate," Rahul said.

"Mamata ji did not take action against the accused in Saradha scam, instead she protected them," he added.

Referring to Narada sting operation against Trinamool Congess leaders, Gandhi said, "The chief minister of a state has seen this corrupt practice on television but has not taken any action against her partymen".

The Congress VP said both Mamata and Modi had made "false promises".

Hitting at PM Modi, the Congress VP asked, "Is there anyone in whose account Rs 15 lakh has come? But Modi ji did wear a 15 lakh suit."

He asked that PM Modi talked about fighting corruption, but how did Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya flee the country, adding "there was corruption in Gujarat involving thousands of crore of rupees".
