Kolkata: Three Maoists, including the Communist Party of India-Maoist Kolkata city committee secretary, were arrested here and arms recovered from their possession, police said on Wednesday.
Avishek Mukherjee was arrested along with two of his associates late Tuesday night by the special task force (STF) from the northern fringes of the city.
Mukherjee, a former aide of the slain rebel chieftain Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji, was earlier reported to be killed in an encounter. The extremists will be produced before a court on Wednesday.
"Several Maoist literatures, two improvised fire arms including one semi-automatic gun having 6 rounds of ammunition with each weapon were recovered from their possession," STF Joint Commissioner Rajeev Mishra said.
