TMC leader asks Maoists to lay down arms or leave

Trinamool Congress MP Subhendu Adhikari, asked the red rebels to either lay down arms or leave Jangalmahal, the hotbed of their activity.

Jhargram: Trinamool Congress MP
Subhendu Adhikari, whose name figures in the Maoist hit list,
on Monday asked the red rebels to either lay down arms or leave
Jangalmahal, the hotbed of their activity.

On the second day of the two-day Bharat Bandh called
by the Maoists to protest against the killing of Kishenji,
Adhikari told a meeting in West Midnapore`s Jamboni district,
``People of Jangalmahal want peace and therefore the Maoists
should either lay down arms or leave the region.``

Adhikari also warned people not to let people carry
arms openly.

"If you see anyone loitering with arms, immediately
inform the police who will take action," he told the
meeting organised by his party`s youth wing.

Thanking the people for attending the meeting braving
the bandh, Adhikari said the presence of such a large number
of people proved that they were not scared of the rebels.

Senior Trinamool Congress leader and Union minister
Mukul Roy, who was also present, said the state government
would start procuring paddy from farmers of the area from
December 12.
