TMC MLA Tapan Chatterjee accuses party workers of extortion in Burdwan
In a sensational charge, TMC MLA Tapan Chatterjee has accused that party workers in Burdwan has been extorting money from businessmen.
Burdwan: In a sensational charge, TMC MLA Tapan Chatterjee has accused that some of his party workers in Burdwan have been extorting money from businessmen.
The TMC MLA was shown making the claims in a video which was shown on a TV channel.
The exact date when the claims were made and the video was shot is not clear.
Reacting to the news, Rahul Sinha, BJP president of West Bengal, told a TV channel, “What the Opposition had been saying, has now been said by the TMC MLA himself. Now more things will come out.”
On the other hand, Mohammad Salim of CPI(M) said that the news was not surprising.
Earlier in June this year, a TMC worker was caught on camera beating a hotel manager in Howrah. Apparently he was extorted money from him, as per reports.
Later the owner of the hotel died with family members claiming that he was stressed over regular harassment by TMC workers.
The Mamata Banerjee government has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons whether it has been the chit-fund scam or the Burdwan blast.
Meanwhile, facing Opposition attack over Saradha chit fund scam and Burdwan blast, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today asked party leaders to launch a counter-offensive against what she said were canards and malicious campaign, as per PTI.
Banerjee asked party leaders to launch a door-to-door campaign and prepare a booklet to inform the people about attempts being made to link the party with the two issues, a senior party leader quoted her as having told a closed-door party meeting.
