Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal was on Tuesday admitted in a super speciality hospital here after suffering a brain stroke, reports said.
"He (Paul) was brought to the hospital at 4 pm. Then MRI was conducted and it was found that he has suffered a brain stroke. He has been admitted in ICU and is under 72-hour observation," Belle Vue Hospital official P Tandon said.
Sources say that Pal was admitted in an emergency condition here.
Last month, Pal was admitted in the same hospital due to high blood pressure.
Pal and his party had been under fire for his comments made against Opposition party supporters, especially, those of the CPI(M).
Tapas Pal from Krishnanagar constituency had found himself in a controversy after a video surfaced where he was captured making threats of rape and violence towards members of opposition party.
Pal had told a gathering in Krishnanagar, "I will send my boys to their (attackers) homes and ask them to rape their women. If any of our Trinamool men are touched I will ensure that the CPI (M) is finished and ensure that their homes are burnt off," as per ANI.
The statements had led to an outcry against Pal with the National Commission for Women (NCW), along with many other activists and opposition leaders, demanding strict action against the MP for his threats.
Just a day after the rape remarks, a second video emerged of Pal, where he was seen asking TMC supporters to murder CPM supporters if required.
