New Delhi: Trinamool Congress today appreciated the President`s Address to Parliament in which the Narendra Modi government`s agenda was outlined and promised to be by its side if it fulfills pro-people programmes.
Trinamool member Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, while speaking on the Motion of Thanks to the President`s Address in the Lok Sabha, said her party supports the speech delivered on June 9.
Noting that BJP had come to power with a large mandate, she expressed hope that it will keep its promises and said, "Let the great expectation of hope be fulfilled and let there be no despair."
She said Trinamool Congress, the fourth largest party with 34 members in the Lok Sabha, will play the role of constructive opposition but will be "on the side of the government when it implements pro-people programmes and stands by the poor people."
While promising to be a "democratic watchdog", she said, "let this mandate act as an enlightenment of dreams of the people...We are by your side."
Talking about the contents of the President`s Address, Dastidar said it was "appreciable", particularly the promise to build `pucca` houses for all by the time India celebrates 75 years of Independence as also building of road infrastructure.
