Trinamool workers arrested for Maoist link

Midnapore: Combined security forces on Monday arrested two inmates of a relief camp, run by Trinamool Congress in this town, for alleged complicity in the armed attack by Maoists on an Eastern Frontier Rifles camp at Silda last year.
Maoists overran the EFR camp at Silda, near here, killing 24 jawans in an ambush on February 15, 2010.
Police said the joint forces arrested Asim Mahato and Amiya Mahato from the relief camp and whisked them away for interrogation for their alleged link to the Maoists.
Protesting against the `arbitrary action` of the joint forces, Trinamool Congress activists blocked the station road in the town, stalling traffic movement for several hours.
They alleged that the two were not at all connected to the Maoists and that the joint forces personnel ransacked the camp and assaulted women inmates during the raid.
