Truck driver who hit Mamata`s convoy remanded to judicial custody

A court Thursday remanded the driver of the truck, which had hit a car of the convoy of Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday night, to 12 days` judicial custody.



Tamluk (WB): A court Thursday remanded the
driver of the truck, which had hit a car of the convoy of
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday night, to 12 days`
judicial custody.

The Tamluk sub-divisional judicial magistrate sent the
driver, Gujjar Singh, to jail custody on the charge of attempt
to murder and criminal conspiracy.

Singh`s truck had hit a car of Banerjee`s convoy near
Kolaghat bridge when she was on her way back to Kolkata after
addressing a rally at Lalgarh.

Singh was arrested by security personnel on the charge of
rash and dangerous driving and handed over to the police. He
was later released on bail. The truck was seized.

He was rearrested after local MP Subhendu Adhikari lodged
a complaint that there was an attempt on the life of the
Trinamool Congress chief.
