Kolkata: Two members of the city-based Lalgarh Sanhati Mancha were arrested in Kolkata for allegedly funding Maoist leader Chhatradhar Mahto, police said on Tuesday.
Prasun Chattapadhyay and Raja Sorkhel of Lalgarh solidarity platform were arrested late on Monday for allegedly backing People`s Committee against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) leader Mahto, a police officer said.
"They were arrested from southern Kolkata`s Jadavpur locality last (Monday) night," the officer said.
He said both Chattapadhyay and Sorkhel were arrested on the basis of information provided by Mahto.
Mahto was arrested on September 25 by a team of Kolkata Police`s Special Task Force (STF). Later, the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) took him into their remand for interrogation.
