Gangtok: Ajay Dahal, founder chief of
the United Gorkha Revolutionary Front (UGRF), who was released
on bail yesterday was handed over to the West Bengal police,
officials said Saturday.
Dahal was supposed to be released from judicial
custody at Rongek Central Jail yesterday, but he was handed
over to West Bengal, as he was wanted for the past three years
by the Darjeeling police in murder and arms cases.
Dahal was arrested in a murder case on February 9 in
A former Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
personnel, Dahal had raised the UGRF in 2004 at Kalimpong and
had received immediate attention by splashing posters in
Kalimpong with his call for an armed struggle for the creation
of a separate state of Gorkhaland.
He was the president of All Gorkha Students Union
(AGSU) unit of Kalimpong prior to floating UGRF.
