Shantiniketan: Visva Bharati students on Friday took out a rally on the campus to express solidarity with the girl student who had been allegedly harassed and molested by three male seniors.

The rallyists, who included Kala Bhavan students, went around the sprawling campus.

A three-member UGC fact-finding team, led by Mihir Kanta Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of Tejpur University, would reach Visva Bharati tomorrow, varsity sources said. They would submit a report to the UGC later.

The three arrested students were today remanded to judicial custody by SDJM court, Bolpur.

The three had been in police custody since August 30 and would now be in judicial remand till September 13.

Meanwhile, the authorities replaced the investigating officer, Ashok Singha Mahaptra, with a lady sub-inspector of Bolpur police station Nandita Das, a top police officer said.

Das will talk to the girl, now recovering, and others concerned.

The girl, allegedly molested and sexually harassed by three of her seniors, hails from Sikkim. She is undergoing treatment at the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMCH).

She had filed the complaint on August 28 and had left the campus with her father after meeting VB vice-chancellor Susanta Dutta Gupta the next day.
