Jhargram: A Maoist squad member wanted by the police in a number of cases of murder and arson was arrested from a village in West Midnapore district, police sources said Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off a team of police and Joint Forces raided Dumuriatalpur village close to Burisole forest on Tuesday night and nabbed Maoist squad member Basistha Mahato alias Bullet, the sources said.
Mahato was very close to Maoist leader Suchitra Mahto, who has surrendered to the West Bengal government after the killing of Kishenji, they said.
He was wanted by the police in a number of cases of murder including the murder of Jharkhand party leader Babu Bose, they said.
