WB: Five killed in thunderstorm

Malda/Murshidabad: Altogether five
persons were killed as thunderstorm hit the districts of
Murshidabad and Malda districts, officials said on Saturday.

In Murshidabad, three farmers who were busy working in
the field at separate places were killed today by lightning.

While in Malda district, a woman died in lightning
strike in Englishbazar last night and a man was killed after
being hit by a hailstone during the storm at Chanchol,
officials said.

Besides damaging 5000 kuchcha houses, the storm lashed
the blocks of Harishchandrapur I and II, Chanchol I and II to
hit mango and other crops, sources said.
