Kolkata: The CPI(M) in West Bengal on Sunday
welcomed Anna Hazare breaking his fast, while jubilant
supporters of the activist burst crackers and distributed
sweets to celebrate the occasion.
"Ending of fast by Hazare is a good decision. We are
happy with his demand for an effective Lokpal Bill, which
in fact was also our long-standing demand," West Bengal CPI(M)
state secretary Biman Bose said.
The city erupted into celebrations as soon as Hazare
broke his fast shortly after 10 am. Hundreds of supporters
came out on the streets distributing sweets.
Supporters took out processions, burst crackers, waved
the tricolour and sang the national song to mark the end of
the Gandhian`s 12-day fast.
