Beijing: At least 14 people were injured and
more than 7,300 houses damaged in an earthquake that jolted
China`s Yunnan and Sichuan provinces on Sunday.
The earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale shook
the area bordering the two provinces earlier this morning.
The epicentre, with a depth of about 10 kilometres,
was located at 27.1 degrees north latitude and 102.9 degrees
longitude, according to Sichuan`s earthquake network centre,
official Xinhua news agency reported.
Fourteen people were injured in the latest earthquake,
and 7,354 houses were destroyed, including 122 houses which
were completely toppled.
Roads in Qiaojia County of Yunnan province caved in at
many places, according to Zhou Yingbin, deputy head of the
county government.
Local officials said that nobody was reported dead or
missing in the quake.
This the second time China has been hit by an
earthquake this year.
In April this year, over 2800 people were killed and
thousands injured in a massive earthquake in China`s southern
Qinghai province.
