16 Taliban militants killed in US drone strike

A senior Taliban leader named Mullah Jannat Gul along with 15 of his men were killed after a drone struck two vehicles on Saturday.

Kabul: Sixteen Taliban militants were killed in a US drone attack in Afghanistan's Kunduz province, a military statement said on Sunday.

"A senior Taliban leader named Mullah Jannat Gul along with 15 of his men were killed after a drone struck two vehicles along a road in Quash Tipa, Chahar Dara district on Saturday night," said the statement issued by the Afghan army`s Division 20 Pamir stationed in the region.

The insurgents tried to relocate but the struck came after a tip-off confirmed the movement of the militants, Xinhua news agency reported citing the statement as saying.
