19 die in China lift crash

Beijing: As many as 19 people were killed Thursday when their lift crashed from the 30th floor of an apartment building being constructed in China`s Hubei province, authorities said.
The accident occurred at around 1.25 p.m. in an area that is being built in the provincial capital of Wuhan, a government spokesman said.

The victims were mostly construction workers, Xinhua quoted the spokesman as saying.
