Benghazi: At least three Libyan soldiers were killed in clashes Wednesday with Islamists in the eastern city of Benghazi, a medic said, as the country voted in parliamentary elections aimed at ending chronic violence.

"We have received the bodies of three soldiers and seven more wounded," said Khalil Gouider, spokesman for the Benghazi Medical Centre.

A security services spokesman said an army convoy had been attacked by the Rafallah al-Sahati Islamist group in Al-Houari, in the south of the city.
