33 killed, 24 injured in Sudan road accident

The traffic accident rate in Sudan is among the highest in the world mainly due to careless driving and poor infrastructure.

Khartoum: As many as 33 people were killed and 24 injured when a bus collided with a mini-bus in Sudan, Xinhua reported Thursday.

According to Al-Sahafa daily, the accident occurred in Al-Kamlin area, some 90 km from the capital city of Khartoum.

"The accident (took place) due to wrong crossing by the mini-bus. All 25 passengers on the mini-bus, along with eight passengers from the bus, were killed," said Mahir Mahjoub, a senior traffic official.
