FULL-TIME: Netherlands 2 - 1 Mexico 90+ 6' - Mexico got their last chance with a directionless run. And it's final whistle. 90+4' - Sub Klaas-Jan Huntelaar converted from the spot. Tragedy for Mexico. Great timing to enter the play. 90+3' - Yellow Cards for Marquez for the foul and Guardado for rushing onto the referee. 90+2' - Penalty, what drama!! Robben won a penalty as the rival captain Marquez tripped him inside the box. 89' - Six minutes ADDED. 88' - Kuyt won Dutch their corner number 10. From the play, Wesley Sneijder volleyed home the equaliser. 86' - Depay continues his tireless runs and from his latest run, delivered one dangerous cross. But Mexican defenders were upto it. 83' - What a show from Ochoa as he once again blocked a point-blank shot with his body. Although, the offside flag was already up against two Dutch players inside the Mexican box. 82' - With less than 10 minutes into the final whistle, Netherlands continue to press hard for the equaliser. 80' - Rodriguez conceded a free-kick in the Mexican half as he caught Robben late. 79' - Salcido got a brilliant run for Mexico, but his attempt on the goal missed the target. 76' - Netherlands SUB: Robin van Persie replaced by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. 75' - Mexico SUB: Oribe Peralta replaced by Javier Hernandez. 75' - Another COOLING BREAK for the players and officials. 74' - Great save by Ochoa to block a Robben attempt. Netherlands won another corner. Robben's delivery got a team-mate heading for glory. But it sailed over the bar. 73' - Mexico won a free-kick as Sneijder block Mexican captain Rafael Marquez. 72' - Netherlands won the ball back in their own half, then Robben cut inside from the left and laid it for Sneijder. But Sneijder's attempt sailed over the bar. 70' - From the following play, Mexico got a move on counter. 69' - Corner for Netherlands. From Robben's flag kick, Ochoa got his finger-tips to clear away the ball. Then after chasing for a couple of yards, Netherlands won a throw-in. 68' - Yellow Card for Paul Aguilar. First of the match. 67' - Robben, trying to cut inside the box, had a tussle with a couple of Mexican defenders. And Dutch players tried to convince the referee for a penalty. But referee, as they say, was spot on. 66' - Peralta got himself unmarked in front of the Dutch goal-mouth. But he was caught offside. 65' - After the hour-mark, Netherlands are getting more chances, without converting any of them. 64' - Holland won a corner from the following play. And as usual, nothing worthwhile happened for the team. 62' - Robben, once again, produced a great run from the left, and sent a cross for his team-mates inside the box. But the ball out of play. 60' - From the corner taken by Depay, Netherlands created further chances, including an bicycle kick by Vlaar. 59' - Robben ran half the field to feed Sneijder, but the Galatasary player's left-footed attempt from outside the Mexico box got deflected from a defender for a corner. 57' - Mexico won a throw-in in their own half. 56' - Mexico conceded a corner and from the play, Ochoa had a block to deny the Dutch. From the block, the ball hit the left post. 55' - Peralta got a shot at the Dutch goal from a distance, which was saved by Cillessen diving on his right. 54' - Holland got an attempt on the goal from a Arjen Robben move. But the attempt failed to hit the target. 52' - Reyes conceded a free-kick inside their own half. From the set-play Sneijder tried to beat the wall, but the ball crashed onto it. 50' - Within minutes from the goal, dos Santos won a free-kick inside the Dutch half as Dirk Kuyt's commited a foul. 49' - Mexico GOAL!!! Giovani dos Santos produced a left-footed drive which drilled through the Dutch defence and beat Cillessen on the left for the opener. 47' - Mexico SUB: Hector Moreno replaced by Diego Reyes. 46' - The second half started in the similar fashion with Mexico winning pressing hard. In the first half, Netherlands slightly beat the Mexicans in possession. But the central Americans have created more chances, including seven attempts on the goal, with four hitting the target. For Holland, it's mere two with one on target. Considering Mexico's history in the World Cup, they will take time to score. It's learnt that they have never scored in the first hour since 1990. For the Oranje, they have failed to gain space and their attempt to use the width of the field also not effective, meaning Mexico have all the creative runs from both flanks. HALF-TIME: Netherlands 0 - Mexico 40+3' - Hector Moreno received medical attention and has been stretchered away to the sidelines. He suffered after bravely defending against Robben moments ago. 40+1' - A mistake from the Mexicans as a back pass saw Robben snatching the ball away and running away with the ball. From a one-two, Robben got the ball inside the box, but he lost the control despite calls for a penalty. 44' - Four minutes ADDED. 43' - With couple of minutes into the break, Mexicans are still enjoying possession. From one of their moved, Giovani dos Santos tried from a close-range, but the Dutch keeper produced a brilliant save to deny the Mexican. 41' - Bruno Martins got a reprieve from the referee as he seemed to stomped onto a Mexican player. Bad play. 40' - Van Persie witnessed some brave defending from Javier Rodriguez as the Mexican defender snatched the ball from him inside the box with a flying clearance. From the corner, the famed Dutch players couldn't do much. 39' - From the Mexico goal-kick, the ball once again reached the Dutch box. And again Kuyt was invoked, this time in defending. 38' - Hollad got a brief spell of possession, but their bid to use the right flank where an ageing Kuyt is doing all the running, failed. 37' - From the following play, Mexico once again encroached on the Dutch territory. And again, Layun's delivery was way off target. 35' - And soon, Mexicans got their chance inside the Dutch half. But Miguel Layun couldn't quite produced that killing pass for his team-mates. COOLING BREAK as the referee deemed the temperature rather hot for the players. First for the footballing world is witnessing such an break in the World Cup. The mark is 32 degree Celsius. 30' - At the half-hour mark, Netherlands are still rolling the ball as Mexicans continue to press hard, without really leaving their half. 29' - Netherlands won a throw-in on the left. From Kuyt's throw, Netherlands tried to create a move which can dissect the Mexican defense. 27' - Nice combination from Peralta and dos Santos inside the Dutch box. But Santos' left-footed attempt was a rather weak one. 26' - From a move from the centre, van Persie got a through pass inside the Mexico but his control let him down. 25' - A little period of rebuilding from the Dutch players against Mexico, a nation which have exited the last five World Cups at this stage. 24' - From the corner taken by Herrera, the ball went out of play. And it's goal-kick Holland. But from replays, it was clear that Kuyt had a brush with the ball, from a header. 23' - Superb drive from Carlos Salcido from a distance. His attempt was saved by Cillessen for a corner. 21' - After few more Mexican moves, Netherlands got their break-away move thanks to a Robben run. Bayern Munich player however lost control. 18' - From the counter Herrera got himself in a prime position to open the scoring as the Dutch goalie left his post in anticipation of the ball. His header missed the target. But won a corner. In between, Mexicans claimed for a penalty as Herrera seemed to be fouled by a defender. 17' - Paul Verhaegh got a release from Robben on the right flank. But his cross from the flanks for the onrushing van Persie failed to create chance as the Man Utd player was caught pulling a defender. 16' - From a Mexican goal-kick, Moreno got the ball inside the Dutch half, then, Dos Santos got himself against two defenders inside the box. His short pass found Herrera. But the attempt missed the right post by a whisker. 15' - From a loose pass, Robben got the ball back and have had his run then claimed for a handball from a Mexican defender. 14' - Netherlands got a throw-in from the right side, but soon Mexico got the ball back. 12' - It's still Mexican attack creating waves. Layun's cross accross the Dutch goal-mouth was tantalisingly close to creating a goal. But it missed an onrushing Mexican player. 10' - Mixicans are enjoying possession, while their supporters up in the stands greeted with the famous Mexican Wave. 9' - Sneijder got the ball delivered inside the Mexican box from the set-piece, but an alert defender headed away the ball to safety. In between, Nigel De Jong has been substituted with only nine minutes into the play. Bruno Martins Indi has replaced the limping midfielder. 7' - Paul Aguilar, Mesican winger, climbed all over Robben in the centre in a bid to control a high ball. And it's free-kick to Netherlands. 6' - It's left for Holland as Sneijder, once again, involved his team-mates into a move from the left. 4' - Rodriguez got a move started from the centre, which after switching flanks got Miguel Layun going for a kick. Missed the target though. Confident start from them. 3' - Robben almost got feeded with a loose ball in front of the Mexican box, but a defender was there for the central Americans. 2' - After couple of exchanges, which spread over the entire midfield on either side, Mexico got the first sight on the goal. 1' - Mexico in their traditional green and white outfit started the match from the centre, while the Oranje are in orange. And Pedro Proenca of Portugal will officiate the match. This is how Holland are meant to behave at World Cups. In contrast to the way Bert van Marwijk’s side ground their way to the final four years ago, Louis van Gaal comes to Fortaleza with a team that has scored more goals than anyone else in Brazil with three straight wins. After missing the victory over Chile because of suspension, Robin van Persie will lead the Dutch attack in Fortaleza against a Mexico side that defended superbly to keep Brazil at bay on the same ground. Their tactics will probably be the same as they were against the hosts. Mexico not only produced an highly-polished rearguard performance, they counter-attacked with some menace. Nevertheless, with a prize of meeting either Costa Rica or Greece in the quarter-finals, the odds must be on the Dutch to come through. Mexico have performed more than people had expected them to. They have been a very formidable side and will give Louis van Gaal`s side a tough encounter. With some good players in their side with the likes of Javier hernandez, Giovani dos Santos and their goal keeper Guillermo Ochoa who has been sublime in front of goal, Mexico is a tough opponent. Expect a good strong match as tactical prowess is the key here.
