Bangui: At least 35 people were killed and dozens were injured in a road accident in Central African Republic (CAR), a health ministry official said Saturday.
The accident happened Thursday as an overloaded truck fell into a ditch in Baoli, around 90 km from the capital Bangui, Xinhua quoted the official as saying.
The official, who did not wish to be named, said the driver of the truck which was on the way from Bangui to Cameroon was believed to be responsible for the accident.
Most of the passengers were going to Cameroon to buy goods to be sold in Central African Republic. The troops of African peacekeeping force MISCA were escorting the truck.
The official said the toll may rise further as some of the injured people were in critical condition.
