A strong earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck northern Chile on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

Washington: A strong earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale struck northern Chile on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake hit 60 miles (100 km) north-northeast of Calama at a depth of 64.6 miles (103 km), the USGS said.
