Washington: An Afghan man allegedly shot dead his wife for not seeking his permission before going to the market.
Police spokesman Sarwar Hussaini said that the incident took place in the northern region of Kunduz province in Afghanistan and the man identified as Khodaidad, fled after the shooting.
The police said that Khodaidad`s wife, 24, had just returned from shopping in the Chahar Dara district when her husband allegedly shot her, the Washington Times reports.
Police are trying to locate the assailant who is on the run.
The report added that in May, members of the Afghan Parliament turned away a law that would have clamped down on crimes against women in the nation, which is ruled in spots by harsh Taliban laws that treat women as second-class citizens, often allowing their male abusers to go unpunished.
