Afghan President sends condolences to France Kabul: The office of Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai says he has offered his condolences to France's Defense Minister, following the killing of four French troops by an Afghan soldier.

The statement said that Karzai and French Defense Minister Gerard Longuet met and discussed both the Friday shooting and the future of Afghan-French relations.

France suspended training missions following the incident, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy has threatened to withdraw French troops from Afghanistan early.

Karzai's office said Longuet still sounded prepared to sign a long-term partnership to keep French forces in Afghanistan for years.

French officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
