Al Qaeda plotted attack on Turkish Parl: Report Ankara: A Turkish newspaper says suspected al Qaeda militants who are accused of planning to attack the US Embassy in Turkey had also plotted to target Turkey's Parliament and a number of churches.

Taraf newspaper, which said it had seen the indictment against 11 suspects, today reported that the militants were almost ready to attack the embassy when captured in July, just ahead of a visit to Turkey by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

It says police also seized plans of the Parliament along with a list of churches as well as names and home addresses of church staffers in Ankara. Some 700 kilograms of chemicals, and bomb-making instructions, were also seized.

Police and court officials declined to comment.
