Melbourne: WikiLeaks founder Julian
Assange who is fighting to avoid extradition to Sweden on sex
assault allegations is hiring a public relations company after
blows to his image due to intense scrutiny of his personal
life, a media report said on Saturday.

The Australian WikiLeaks founder, on bail in Britain
and fighting to avoid extradition to Sweden on sex assault
allegations, has taken a "battering" in the media, Sydney
Morning Herald reported.

Assange`s publication of thousands of US embassy
cables has made him a worldwide celebrity but the allegations
have led to intense scrutiny of his personal life.

He risked angering sexual rights campaigners by saying
the two women making allegations against him had got into a
"tizzy" about his failure to have an STD test after
unprotected sex with them.

The activist`s supporters have sought to stitch up a
deal with London PR specialist Mark Borkowski.

Assange has also signed a book deal to tell his life
story. Canongate Books in Edinburgh said he would discuss his
philosophies in the book and quotes him as saying: "I hope
this book will become one of the unifying documents of our
generation. In this highly personal work, I explain our global
struggle to force a new relationship between the people and
their governments."
