 At least 129 people drowned after a boat capsised on Thursday night on Lake Tanganyika in the southeast of Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a new official death toll.

Lubumbashi: At least 129 people drowned after a boat capsised on Thursday night on Lake Tanganyika in the southeast of Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a new official death toll.

"Rescue workers recovered a total of 129 bodies," an official told AFP.

The provincial government had yesterday said at least 26 people had died.
