Bahrain to host Saudi prince`s news network

Bahrain`s govt says the small Gulf island kingdom will host the headquarters for Saudi Prince`s new Arabic news network despite months of unrest.

Dubai: Bahrain`s government says the small
Gulf island kingdom will host the headquarters for Saudi
billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal`s new international
Arabic news network despite months of unrest.

Bahrain`s Information Affairs Authority said in a
statement last night that Alwaleed`s Alarab channel will be
based in the Bahraini capital Manama`s Media City office
complex. The network expects to launch next year.

Alwaleed`s office has not itself said where the channel
will be based. Officials there could not immediately be
reached today.

Bahrain has been shaken by 10 months of large-scale
protests and clashes between security forces loyal to the
Sunni monarchy and opposition groups led by the country`s
majority Shiites.
