BBC for urgent probe into its reporter’s death

25 year old Ahmed Khpulwak died during a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan`s Uruzgan province.

London: The BBC on Monday demanded an urgent
inquiry by NATO-led forces in Afghanistan into the death of a
local journalist working for the British broadcaster.

25-year-old Ahmed Omed Khpulwak, who began working for
the BBC on a freelance basis in May 2008, died during a
suicide bomb attack and gun battle last week in Afghanistan`s
southern Uruzgan province.

The BBC in a statement here said various conflicting
reports have emerged regarding the facts surrounding his
(Khpulwak`s) death.

"The BBC has officially requested that International
Security Assistance Force inquires into the circumstances of
his death and reports the findings to the BBC and to his
family as urgently as possible," the statement said.
