Italy: Italy`s former premier Silvio Berlusconi has asked for 45 days to be knocked off his year`s community service for tax fraud, Italian media reported Thursday.

Berlusconi was definitively convicted in 2013 and sentenced to a year in prison, which was converted last year to community service in a centre for old people and patients with Alzheimer`s in Milan.

He began his weekly visits to the centre on April 23, 2014.

His lawyers are now hoping to get the media magnate time off for good behaviour and have submitted a request to court, the reports said.

The Corriere della Sera daily said the legal team was fairly confident the billionaire, 78, would be able to stop his visits to the Cesano Boscone centre and regain full freedom of movement by the start of March.

Apart from an outburst at the beginning of his community service, when he mocked both the judges who had sentenced him and punishment meted out, Berlusconi has kept a low profile.

Staff at the centre will be interviewed to see how the three-time former premier has been behaving.
