Athens: A Cairo-bound Egypt Air plane out of London carrying 251 passengers made an emergency landing at Athens airport on Friday evening after a bomb alert, an airport spokeswoman said.
The Boeing 777-300, out of London Heathrow, landed at 8:39 pm (1839 GMT) at Athens International Airport and was evacuated while security officials searched the aircraft, she said.
"All the passengers are safe and sound and waiting for the end of the checks so they can resume their journey to Cairo," the spokeswoman said.
The passengers were transferred to a nearby hotel, said a police source.
