British schoolgirl arrested for burning Quran

The girl set fire to an English language copy of Quran in school premises.

London: A 15-year-old schoolgirl has been arrested in Britain after a video of her burning the Quran was posted on Facebook, a media report said on Friday.

The girl from Sandwell in Birmingham reportedly set fire to an English language copy of the Islamic holy book, and was watched by other pupils in her school premises, The Sun reported on Friday.

Police said the video has since been taken out from Facebook, and the girl arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy, thought to have made a retaliatory attack on the girl on the social networking website, was accused of making threats and has also been arrested.

Both the teenagers were later granted bail, police said on Thursday.
