London: A British national was killed when a bomb ripped through a bus in Jerusalem, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
Israeli officials had earlier said a woman died and more than 30 people were wounded in the blast in the Holy City on Wednesday.
"We can confirm a British national was killed in a bus bomb in Jerusalem on the 23rd of March," a Foreign Office spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman could not confirm if the Briton was a woman and could not say if the person was a tourist or was living in Jerusalem.
Israeli police said the bomb had been hidden in a bag at a bus stop near Jerusalem's central bus station at the western entrance to the city.
Foreign Secretary William Hague called it a "callous and disgusting act of terrorism”.
