Male: The car of Indian High Commissioner in Maldives, Rajeev Shahare, was damaged by unidentified persons on Monday.

The High Commissioner was not present in the car when the miscreants pelted stones at it and no one was injured in the incident.

Two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle threw a stone at the car while it was parked in front of the mission at Ameer Ahmed Magu, police were quoted as saying by Sun Online portal.

The portal reported that the incident occurred at 6.45 pm (local time) and a picture posted on the website showed the stone had made a hole in the rear windscreen of the Mercedes-Benz causing no further damage.

Efforts were on to nab the suspects, the police official said.

Police strongly condemned the crime and asked people to contact their hotline if they had "any information on the individuals behind this attack".
