Zagreb: Police in Croatia say three people have died and 16 were injured in a chain reaction crash involving more than 20 vehicles.

Spokeswoman Maja Brozicevic says the accident happened early yesterday on a highway in western Croatia.

She said that a bus without passengers swerved in rainy weather, broke through a fence and slid into the opposite lane, blocking traffic which was caught in the pile-up.
