Chile quake: Official toll rises to 521

Chile`s govt raised official toll from an earthquake and tsunami to 521.

Santiago: Chile`s government announced on Saturday it was raising the official death toll from a massive earthquake and tsunami in February to 521, and revised downwards the number of missing people.

"We have added 35 victims after receiving their death certificates, placing the death toll at 521," the Chilean Ministry of Interior said on its website.

The last official figures, provided on April 07, had put the number of people missing after the quake and subsequent tsunami at 79, but the ministry said yesterday that figure had been revised down to 56.
The massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Chile on February 27 had sparked a huge tsunami that swept away entire in damage.
