China freezes assets of 6 Uyghur militants

China froze assets and funds of six Uyghur men, accusing them of being members of outlawed East Turkistan Islamic Movement group.

Beijing: China on Friday froze assets and funds
of six Uyghur men, accusing them of being members of outlawed
East Turkistan Islamic Movement group which has been blamed
for many terror attacks in Muslim-majority Xinjiang province.

Chinese police have published a list of "six terrorists"
and decided to freeze their funds and assets, state-run Xinhua
news agency reported without mentioning their names.

The six were all core members of the terrorist group the
ETIM, it quoted a statement by the Ministry of Public Security
as saying and sought the help of the foreign governments in
helping to arrest them and hand them over to China.

"The group is the most direct and real threat China faces
for its security," said a spokesman of the Ministry of Public
Security.

The six have participated in the organisation, planning
and execution of terrorist acts against Chinese targets within
and outside the country, the statement said.

Without naming any specific country, the ministry hoped
that foreign governments and their law enforcing departments
would help to arrest them.

Xinjiang borders Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Chinese
officials said some of the militants who took part in brutal
attacks on civilians were trained in the Pakistan`s terrorist
training camps.

ETIM is still conducting propaganda and instigation among
members of the "three evil forces" of separatism, extremism
and terrorism who live in China, and attempts to stage
terrorist acts, the statement said.
