China mudslides: 13 killed, hundreds stranded Beijing: Mudslides triggered by heavy rain killed 13 people and left hundreds others stranded in two different parts of China on Saturday.

Another six were injured and hospitalised, local police said.

In a major accident, a landslide caused by torrential rain struck a highway in Qin'an County of the northwest Gansu province.

A medium-sized bus and a truck were damaged in the mudslide, leaving five people dead at the scene, two more dead en route to hospital and another 11 injured.

Six more people died later in hospital after emergent medical treatment failed, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, more than 800 people and 300-odd motor vehicles are stranded at a highway in southwest China's Yunnan Province after the road was partly covered by a landslide.

The mudslide occurred last night in Fugong County of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture.

Mud and rocks from the snow-clad Biluo Mountain fell to the Wagong Highway, and covered a more-than-100-meter-long section of the road.
