Beijing: A senior Chinese official of ruling Communist Party, apparently suffering from depression, today jumped to death in eastern Jiangsu Province.
Jiang Hongliang, deputy secretary of Wuxi City Committee of the party jumped from a tower in a local forest park.
He was taken to hospital immediately but died there, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
According to initial investigation, Jiang was suffering from depression, the news agency report said.
Several Chinese officials have committed suicides in recent months after the government stepped up anti-corruption drive.
