Beijing: Chinese people had a taste of
India at the "Incredible India Bazaar" where members of the
Indian community on Sunday came together to serve popular
delicacies from their homeland, as Chinese girls danced to
Bollywood tunes.

The event organised by the Indian community of Beijing
(ICB) attracted sizable crowd. Stalls were set up by the wives
of Indian professionals, whose numbers are on a steady rise
amid the surge in trade relations between India and China.

Mehrnosh Pastakia, one of the organisers, said the aim
of the event was to bring together the Indian Community and
help them to settle down well here.

The bilateral trade between the two Asian giants last
year crossed USD 61 billion, surpassing the target of USD 60
billion set by them.

The highlight of the event, inaugurated by the Deputy
Indian Ambassador Rahul Chhabra, was the enthusiasm shown by
the Indian expat families, Pastakia said.

Besides the top Indian restaurants here, many stalls
were opened by wives of top Indian professionals, who served a
variety of dishes.

Some even sold Indian artificial jewellery and
designer clothes, said Pastakia, who runs an Indian restaurant
chain.

A group of Chinese girls, who specialised in Indian
classical and film dances, entertained the audiences with a
variety of performances.
