Washington: More churches across Egypt are being stormed and torched as the Virgin Mary Church, which has been a peaceful refuge for Shenouda El Sayeh was also subject to recent violence, with a Coptic Orthodox Church leader claiming that 52 churches were attacked in 24 hours since Wednesday.
According to CNN, a Bible Society of Egypt even revealed the complete burning and destruction of its bookshops in the cities of Assiut and Minia, in southern Egypt.

US President Barack Obama strongly condemned the attacks saying the cycle of violence and escalation needed to stop.

Egypt`s Christian minority has been at the wrong end of a considerable amount of violence in recent years and the bombing of a major church in Alexandria in January 2011 killed 21 people, sparking worldwide condemnation, the report said.
