Port-au-Prince: The death toll from flooding in quake-hit Haiti rose to at least 11, according to a report.
"The situation is grave... Whole areas are completely flooded. People have climbed on to the roofs of their homes," a local senator, Francky Exius, said yesterday.
Five people died in the southwestern district of Gelee, near Haiti's third-biggest city of Les Cayes, when their vehicle was tossed over in rising waters on a road, he said.
Another three died in the nearby village of Torbeck, a deputy, Guy Gerard Georges, said.
The deaths added to three other fatalities elsewhere in the region already recorded by Haiti's civil emergencies service and a local journalist.
